Cruise up the Scuppernong River to Columbia in Tyrrell County

Previously the home of a major timber industry, this county now hosts a major agricultural industry and the home of Pocosin Lakes and Alligator River National Wildlife Refuges. The Town of Columbia hosts the home office of and a museum dedicated to these two wildlife refuges. Near dockside, Columbia is also home to the Pocosin Arts School of Fine Crafts and its Contemporary Craft Gallery. This Eastern NC “gem” hosts artists residences and offers weekly community and youth classes.
